HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!

It's that time again y'all!!

The good folks over at Today's Future Sound  & Beat Binjaz are back on the North Side of the border doing that good work they are known for and pitting some of the best hip-hop producing talents up against each other to do battle for a GREAT cause.

Now as you know, the last time I did battle in Hamilton, your boy walked away with the "W" (YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHH BOOOOOIIIIIEEEE).

I'm really looking forward to meeting up with some familiar faces, meeting new ones and hearing what my competitors have for me to compete against.

Please come out and support the cause and your boy.

Help Me Name My Baby Girl!!!

Okay, so this is a little unorthodox but I figured lets have some fun with it.

So as some of you know, I am expecting my first daughter VERY soon and me and Wifey have been having a VERY hard time deciding on a name.

So what I usually do when facing a difficult decision is turn to music and this time is no different.

Below you will find some tracks I have created each with a name that we have high on our consideration list. You can help us by choosing a beat/name below by adding it as a favourite on Soundcloud.

The most popular vote will win. I MAY add one more name to the list, but these are the MAIN ones.

Thanks for your help and enjoy!!

And The Winner is..... (Pt. 3)

YEEEAAAHHH BOOOOYYY!!!

Your boy FINALLY pulled one out.

Big shout outs to the good people at Today's Future Sound.

Also wanna send love to all the people that were involved with the event; Philthy Drummond, Bix, Apt, Es & Elaquent.

To the cats I went up against (All DOPE PRODUCERS!!) Gorgeous George, Viktor Shade & Exponent3.

Much love to all who supported and I'll see you all next battle!!

Deets for the battle and tracks below, ENJOY!!

ONE

Round 1 is assigned sample.  Each producer was assigned to one of four groups and then have to make a beat out of that sample.

Round 2 is the sample pack and you may use as many or as few of the songs/samples to make ONE beat, but you may not use ANY SAMPLES, DRUMS OR SOUNDS from outside of the sample pack except for spoken vocal snippets/dialogue (like a dj battle)

Round 3 Sample at will, meaning you can sample as many of the songs or as few as one song in the round 3 folder and you MAY use samples from the outside or other things like synths, etc..

Round 4 is the acapella remix round in which participants must remix the full acapella of "Nuthin by a G Thang" in the Round 4 folder with a song you pick by an artist whose first name starts with the letter "G"and you must bring your sample on your  hardware/computer/CD to play so judges and audience can see how the sample was flipped. (Sidenote: I used Gary Glitter)

And the Winner is..... (Part 2)

Whut`s Good Beautiful People,

Well it`s that time again and I wanted to take this time to share with you the work I put in for 1 of the 2 battles I competed in this past weekend.

Put on by the good people over at Today's Future Sound, these battles were themed (Like the last one I was in) See deets below and ENJOY di CHUNES dem!!!

Round 4 is the acapella remix round in which participants must remix the full acapella of "Nuthin by a G Thang" in the Round 4 folder with a song you pick by an artist whose first name starts with the letter "G"
and you must bring your sample on your  hardware/computer/CD to play so judges and audience can see how the sample was flipped. (Sidenote: I used Gary Glitter)

Unfortunately, I did not win this time around but I did finish in the top 3 (Call of Duty instead of Beatmaking is a No No!!)

But there is good news to be had #StayCHUNED for the results of "And the winner is..... (Part 3).

And the Winner is......

Unfortunately, It is not I.

However, I did place Second.

To me this is HUGE since this was my first Beat Battle.

I had a blast and got to meet some really talented cats, so overall, I glad to have had the chance to be apart of the entire movement. I'm going to post my entries below, but I first wanted to highlight the people behind the scenes and also the cause.

Today's Future Sound, is a great organization, that goes around North America teaching DJing and Beatmaking to underprivileged children, which I believe is a HUGE contribution to a child's development.

Music isn't really taught to the extent I think it should be taught in school and kids should grow up with it as part of their lives. Please check out their website and donate what you can to this great cause.

 And now onto the battle....

Round 1 - "Nalini" This was my entry for the first round. Competitors were assigned on of four groups, each group were provided a 1970's Bollywood Funk Record to chop up.

Round 2.1 - "Chandra" AKA "Chuddha" This was one of my entries for the second round. Competitors were given a folder with drums (Kicks, Snares and Hats), Bass, and 3 1970's Bollywood Funk song to build one track with. You couldn't use anything outside of the folder to make a beat except for voice samples (Like in a DJ Battle). I ended making 2 beats for this round and went with the other during the battle. I now know that I "Chuddha" gone with this one!!!

Round 2.2 - "Gurpreet" This was the other beat I put together for the second round. Competitors were given a folder with drums (Kicks, Snares and Hats), Bass, and 3 1970's Bollywood Funk songs to build one track with. You couldn't use anything outside of the folder to make a beat except for voice samples (Like in a DJ Battle). This is the track I used for the actual battle, and I don't think it translated well to the judges/audience, the competition was stiff in this round and I tried to get the people "hype" instead of hit them with some "feel".

Round 3 - "Priya" This was my entry for the third round. Competitors were asked to do their own digging for a 1970's Bollywood Funk song to build one track with.

Round 4 - "Gita" (AKA Bollywood Blues) This was my entry for the fourth (and final) round. Competitors were a 1970's Bollywood Funk song and the acapella to Kool G. Rap's "Ill Street Blues" and asked to build a track/remix with it.

All of these beats are available for download.

Overall, I'm proud of the work I did and I look forward to the next battle. NUFF THANKS to all the FAM for coming out to support a brother.

 Until next time, party people.
