And the Winner is......

Unfortunately, It is not I.

However, I did place Second.

To me this is HUGE since this was my first Beat Battle.

I had a blast and got to meet some really talented cats, so overall, I glad to have had the chance to be apart of the entire movement. I'm going to post my entries below, but I first wanted to highlight the people behind the scenes and also the cause.

Today's Future Sound, is a great organization, that goes around North America teaching DJing and Beatmaking to underprivileged children, which I believe is a HUGE contribution to a child's development.

Music isn't really taught to the extent I think it should be taught in school and kids should grow up with it as part of their lives. Please check out their website and donate what you can to this great cause.

 And now onto the battle....

Round 1 - "Nalini" This was my entry for the first round. Competitors were assigned on of four groups, each group were provided a 1970's Bollywood Funk Record to chop up.

Round 2.1 - "Chandra" AKA "Chuddha" This was one of my entries for the second round. Competitors were given a folder with drums (Kicks, Snares and Hats), Bass, and 3 1970's Bollywood Funk song to build one track with. You couldn't use anything outside of the folder to make a beat except for voice samples (Like in a DJ Battle). I ended making 2 beats for this round and went with the other during the battle. I now know that I "Chuddha" gone with this one!!!

Round 2.2 - "Gurpreet" This was the other beat I put together for the second round. Competitors were given a folder with drums (Kicks, Snares and Hats), Bass, and 3 1970's Bollywood Funk songs to build one track with. You couldn't use anything outside of the folder to make a beat except for voice samples (Like in a DJ Battle). This is the track I used for the actual battle, and I don't think it translated well to the judges/audience, the competition was stiff in this round and I tried to get the people "hype" instead of hit them with some "feel".

Round 3 - "Priya" This was my entry for the third round. Competitors were asked to do their own digging for a 1970's Bollywood Funk song to build one track with.

Round 4 - "Gita" (AKA Bollywood Blues) This was my entry for the fourth (and final) round. Competitors were a 1970's Bollywood Funk song and the acapella to Kool G. Rap's "Ill Street Blues" and asked to build a track/remix with it.

All of these beats are available for download.

Overall, I'm proud of the work I did and I look forward to the next battle. NUFF THANKS to all the FAM for coming out to support a brother.

 Until next time, party people.

The Art of WAR!!

What's good Everyone,

It's been a minute, I know. But I've been in the lab chopping it up with some talented people and been preparing to go to war.

By that, I mean I have entered into a Beat Battle that takes place tomorrow (see pic) and have spent the past 2 weeks or so, building some FIYAAH CHUNES to war with.

Really looking forward to this being my first.

I'll hit you up with the results on Saturday.

Until then, y'all be good to each other.
